At Kidz Modern Dentistry in Laguna Niguel, we like to see children by their first birthday, or within 6 months of the first tooth appearing — whichever comes first. Starting that early lets our pediatric dentists catch small problems while they are still small, and it gives your child a chance to get comfortable in the chair before any treatment is ever needed. First visits here are short, gentle and mostly about showing your child around, and we walk you through brushing, diet and teething for their age. This follows American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry guidance.
Yes, when it is administered by a trained pediatric dental team. Kidz Modern Dentistry offers nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation, and both of our doctors are board-certified pediatric dentists — Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry — with residency training that includes sedating children. We monitor your child throughout, follow strict safety protocols, and go through every option, the reasons for it and the alternatives with you before we begin. Many children never need sedation at all; when we suggest it, we will tell you exactly why.
